Today, Knoxville served as the venue for the REVOLUTION3 Triathlon “Kickoff” event for the 2010 Race Series. The featured race was the Olympic Distance Swim in the Tennessee River. Within this race, more than 500 Professional Athletes competed for $50,000 in prize money. For the last couple of days, the athletes have experienced the vitality of Knoxville's downtown, featuring Volunteer Landing, The University of Tennessee, the Tennessee River and a fabulous finish in the heart of downtown's famed World's Fair Park. Take a look at these breathtaking pictures of the 500 athletes swimming in the waters of our downtown marina this morning!
The REVOLUTION3 Triathlon race series was created to change the way athletes, family members, and spectators view and participate in triathlons of all distances. One of their immediate goals is to make triathlons a more interactive, enjoyable experience for spectators by providing fun activities for children and family members during the race. REVOLUTION3 Triathlon is about change! Change for the age grouper, change for the professional athlete, and change for the spectators.
